es Salaam; The winner of this year Epiq Bongo Star Search (EBSS) 2012
will pocket Shs 50 million, Zantel Vice President-Commercial, Ahmed
Mokhles announced on Friday.
Speaking
during the launching ceremony held at the Serena Hotel, Mokhles said
that they have decided to increase the winner prizes from Shs 40
million of last year aiming to make the search competitive and reward
the winners.
Mokhles
said that they are proud to be associated with a successful Tanzanian
talent competition focusing on discovering and promoting new musical
talent among the youth.
He
said that through Epiq Nation related products aimed at the youth, they
believe this year’s contest will be very energetic, full of color and
pomp and many surprises.
He
explained that Zantel has incorporated a fashion aspect to this year’s
competition whereas local and young designers will be given an
opportunity to dress the contestants and will be assessed by
professional fashion designers.
“We
all now BSS has changed lives of many young people and would like to
see this continue under our firm stewardship and are creating
additional segments to the show such as fashion to give opportunities
to more youths and benefit from this one o a kind partnership,” added
Mokhles.
Benchmark
Production Managing Director, Rita Paulsen elaborate her happiness

Epiq
Bongo Star search will continue with its usual format of having
auditions from all major towns around the country an thisi year it will
be extended to eight regional that are Zanzibar, Lindi, Mbeya, Mwanza,
Arusha, Tanga, Dodoma and Dar es Salaam.
